NaNoWriMo

  1. Yesterday, November 1st, began the annual NaNoWriMo challenge--where lots of marginally crazy people try to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. What do you think about that idea? Crazy? Inspired? Challenging?
  2. Would you/Have you tried it yourself? In other years? (Or this one, in which case, shouldn't you be writing and not reading blogs?)
  3. If you took away the time pressure, would you/have you tried writing a novel of your own?
(Hey, and for you knitters--there's a copy-cat, sweater version, too! NaNoSweMo. After the Knitting Olympics, knitting a sweater in a month doesn't sound so crazy.)

If you want, highlight the stuff in the box, then copy it to your blog.

I'm not participating in NaNoWriMo, but I did answer the questions. :-) My answers are here.

Are you doing the NaNoWriMo? If so, good luck and happy writing. I'll be cheering you along from the sidelines!!

My answers here. So there are no surprises, I'm not a novel writer and not participating. But think it is a cool idea for those so inclined.

1. I think it's a fine idea. A mass one-month sprint toward a novel might actually turn up some very interesting books. At least, they'd be no worse than some of the awful junk filling the shelves at Borders and elsewhere. :)

2. I might have tried it myself when I was younger, as a muscle-building exercise, so to speak. But other demands on my time take precedence. ;)

3. Absolutely.
